Beyond Bethany

The "Beyond Bethany" Club is set to meet next on Sunday, February 25th at 4:30pm in Anderson Hall's 5th floor lounge. The plan is to learn how to cook from scratch, so we're talking about sourdough bread/buns, banana bread/muffins, omelets, and we'll even throw in some chocolate covered strawberries. Feel free to join us...and no boys allowed!

Wayne Lu Horn Recital

Wayne Lu is founder and president of "Veritas Musica Publishing" located in Eldora, Iowa, and brings his expertise as a businessman, composer, and performer to BLC on Sunday, February 25. The recital, in Trinity Chapel, begins with a presentation about music publishing at 2 p.m., followed by a 3 p.m. performance on the horn, accompanied by Dr. Bethel Balge. No admission charge for this unique event!
Seminary Night

Men if you would like to have more information about the pastoral ministry come to Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary on Sunday night, February 25, from 5:30–7:00. The Rev. Timothy Hartwig will give a presentation entitled “Consider the Noble Task.” Supper will be provided.

Treat Your Faculty and StaffThe Bethany Student Nursing Association is giving you the opportunity to treat your favorite faculty and staff, just in time for midterms! We will be selling Hershey's chocolate bars with notes on them for $1 during lunch from February 20-23. They will be delivered the week of midterms. Send a bar to your favorite BLC workers!
Donate to Nicaragua Junior nursing students will be on a global health care study tour during Spring Break. We are collecting donated over-the-counter medication to deliver to clinics we will be visiting. Nursing students will collect donated medication and/or money Tues Feb 20-Fri Feb 23 during 11:30am-1:30pm near the Dining Center. Medication must be over-the-counter medication in original and unopened packages with an expiration date 12 months or later. Contact Dr. Traylor for more information.

Careers in Law Event/Legal Studies

On Wednesday, February 28th, Legal Studies/Law Club will host a field trip to the "Careers in Law" event at the University of Minnesota Law School. Representatives from over 20 law schools, non-profits, legislative offices and the FBI will be on hand to recruit. Bethany graduate Miles Kelson, who will graduate this semester from Chicago Kent Law School, will be recruiting for the event. Miles has asked to meet Bethany students who are interested in law. Res Halls Closed over Spring Break

The Res Halls close for Spring Break at noon on Fri. March 2. If you need to be on campus any time between noon on Fri 3/2/18 and noon on Sun 3/11/18, you need to fill out a waiver. Visit Student Senate!Did you know you are invited to Student Senate meetings? The Senate meets on Fridays in Honsey Hall 314 at 3:30pm. All are welcome to attend and see what the Senate is doing to improve the campus. Also- if you wish to address the Senate, there is an Open Forum portion of the meeting. Academic Resource Center and Disability ServicesThe Academic Resource Center (ARC) will be open this semester as follows: Sundays through Thursdays from 7-10 pm, Tuesdays 12:30-3:30 pm, Thursdays 1:30-3:30pm, Fridays 10:30 am -1:20 pm, and new this semester, Saturdays 12:00-3:00pm. Please plan to study or have test proctoring during those times. A schedule of ARC hours as well as links for test proctoring and applying for a tutor is posted under Academic Resources on MyBLC. If you have any questions about ARC service or have a disability service need, contact Dr. Carrie Pfeifer at cpfeifer@blc.edu or stop by her office-ML 101.
Need a Writing Tutor?Located in HH 217, the Ada Stokes Writing Center is open from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Monday afternoons, and from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights (last call at 9:45 p.m.). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are given priority. Tutors can help you understand writing assignments, develop thesis statements, organize ideas, and learn how to revise and edit academic essays. Additionally, they can help with creative works, resume writing, cover letters, and graduate school applications. If you can write it, the tutors can help!
