Red Eye Film Festival - Form your groupWant to make a short film? The Red Eye Film Festival is where students groups (3-7 per group) make a film in one week and then showcase the films in YFAC Theatre on Monday, October 2. It is a memorable event and pushes the creative thinking in performing under tight deadlines. If you are interested in having a group, talk to Seth Grabow in the studio or sgrabow@blc.edu Group entries are due September 19. Get involved - it's a blast!

Capstone Literacy Center is looking for volunteers to work with their free tutoring program for kids in grades 1 to 5 who are reading below grade level. The tutoring session starts the week of September 18 and ends the week of November 27 (not during Thanksgiving week). Amanda will help you design a life you love & dig into what God says in the Bible about your purpose for your life. Liz will then help you understand how to financially set up and support the life you designed through your work with Amanda. Help Landscape Peace Lutheran Church

Up to 10 volunteers are needed for an ALL DAY workday landscaping at Peace Lutheran Church. Saturday, September 23 starting at 8:00am. Volunteers will assist the landscaper to rake landscape areas, install weed barrier, install plants, place rock, and lay sod. Lunch, water, and snacks will be provided. The church is located at 2090 Commerce Drive North Mankato. Ringo Starr's photographer to speak on campus!

World renowned photographer Rob Shanahan, who's portfolio includes photographs of Paul McCartney, Avril Lavigne, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Van Halen, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry, among many others will be on campus on Sept. 21. He will present a lighting workshop in Honsey Hall Studio A at 2 p.m. At 7 p.m. HH129 Shanahan will also explain how he went from being a small town MN boy to the on call photographer for Ringo and other stars. Expect to hear his story and see his work. All are welcome to attend both events!

A faculty panel will engage in an interdisciplinary discussion on the liberal arts at Bethany Lutheran College. The purpose of the panel is to explain the importance of the liberal arts and to recognize how a liberal arts education is expressed in diverse fields. Girls on the RunYWCA Mankato is seeking enthusiastic positive volunteer coach mentors for the Girls on the Run program.  Girls on the Run is physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in grades 3-5.   A coach mentor lead lessons in empowerment, healthy eating, gossiping, bullying, friendship, body image, media influence, goal setting and believing in yourself. Flex-dollars can be added in any amount to your student ID and used for any meal throughout the school year. Simply bring cash/check to the caf and that amount will be loaded onto your ID card. As a thank you, 10% extra will be added to any amount over $10 that you add. If you add $100 or more at a time, 20% will be added (i.e. you'll have $120 on your card)! Questions? Innocence Project Event - Law Club Guest Speaker

On Sunday, September 24th at 7:00 p.m. in Honsey Hall, South Lantern Room, guest speaker and Bethany graduate Rachael Melby will talk about her work with the Innocence Project of Minnesota. The Innocence Project works to free prisoners who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes. Since its inception in 1989, their work has led to over 2,000 exonerations, representing over 17,895 years lost in prison due to errors in convictions. Everyone is welcome to attend. Law & Faith Presentation - Constitution Day Event

The Honorable Mark Betters will give a Constitution Day presentation on Wednesday, September 27th, at 7:00 pm in Meyer Hall, room 101. Judge Betters will recount his story of being a high school music teacher who went to law school and who then was appointed to be a judge for Minnesota's 5th Judicial District. Second Annual Bethany BowlJoin SAAC for some Friday Night Lights at the Second Annual Bethany Bowl! Teams must consist of 8-12 junior or senior men and will have bracket play on Thursday September 28th and the championship on Friday September 29th. Winners of the championship will receive t-shirts! Rosters will be emailed to students and available in the SFC on the Intramural wall. They must be turned in to the Intramural wall by Friday September 22nd.
